YOU FM has announced it is celebrating its third anniversary. The station disclosed that even though it only launched three years ago, it has had a remarkable journey since it went on air on Friday, 15 November 2019, describing its relationship with listeners as being nothing but love at first sight.
According to the station, there is a sense of brand affection that affirms what the station has set for itself to achieve in a short space of time.
The station revealed, it is a listener-led station and its brand promise to its audience is that it will do everything it takes to understand everything about them — what makes them tick, what they like and what they don’t like.
The station adds that it has receptive listeners and is led by its listeners’ interests, and this is shown in their response to the station, showing that it was spot on in the brand positioning.
The station said its greatest achievement has been that the business community also came to the party quite early in more ways than it expected. This confirms that the station’s business strategy was accurate and well executed.
According to the station, it realized two years before YOU FM was launched (after conducting extensive surveys and talking to the industry) that there was a missing link in radio space in South Africa.
The craftsmanship of radio broadcasting in South Africa was almost dying, and the YOU FM team embarked on a journey of bringing back craftsmanship. The team says that they do that by demonstrating by delivering the magic of radio.
The team at YOU FM says, “We made history. We had eight weeks to go on air after taking over the previous station from its owners.”
“We had to relocate from old facilities, do everything and launch the actual product in eight weeks, new facilities and new everything in eight weeks,” adds the team.
The station has also announced that two great innovations — two digital products — will launch soon.
The team concludes, “We thank our advertisers who have shown great confidence in us and, of course, our listeners who have made it possible for us to grow and look forward to a great future in broadcasting.”
