We aim to report factual stories relevant to the radio and media industries and cover a wide range of valid, fact-based opinions relevant to our professional readers. We also report entertaining light stories, publish a range of opinion stories and allow moderated comments on our reports.
We will correct or modify our reports if they are found not to be factually based or carry invalid opinions, as outlined below.
We welcome reader comments and suggestions for additional information or corrections. There are two methods to comment on our content: via the comments section at the bottom of each story (requires a free login) or by email to [email protected]. These are our editorial guidelines:
Accuracy and clarity
We aim to ensure that factual material in news reports and elsewhere is truthful, accurate and not misleading, and is distinguishable from other material such as opinion and advertising.
We will provide a correction or other adequate remedial action if published material is shown to be significantly inaccurate or misleading.
Fairness and balance
We will ensure that factual material is presented with reasonable fairness and balance, and that writers’ expressions of opinion are not based on significantly inaccurate factual material or omission of key facts.
We will ensure that where material refers adversely to a person, a fair opportunity is given for subsequent publication of a reply if that is reasonably necessary to address a possible fairness or accuracy breach.
Privacy and avoidance of harm
We will avoid intruding on a person’s reasonable expectations of privacy, unless doing so is truthful and/or sufficiently in the public interest.
We aim to avoid causing or contributing materially to substantial offence, distress or prejudice, or a substantial risk to health or safety, unless doing so is sufficiently in the public interest.
Integrity and transparency
We will avoid publishing material which has been gathered by deceptive or unfair means, unless doing so is sufficiently in the public interest.
We will ensure that conflicts of interests are avoided or adequately disclosed, and that they do not influence published material.
Opinions and Editorials
Editorials and opinions written by guest contributors do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the publisher.
All reasonable efforts will be made to ensure that information contained in Editorials and Opinion pieces is accurate. Opportunity to contribute opposing opinions as comments or articles will be offered to those with differing opinions if they contact [email protected], providing that the submitted content satisfies our editorial policies.
We encourage readers to comment on our stories in a professional and respectful manner. We moderate all comments and may edit or decline to publish material that is defamatory or abusive, as outlined below. We strive for diversity of opinions and comments posted by readers and approved for publication by us do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the publisher.
Defamatory material will not be published. We may choose not to publish the defamatory comment, or we may edit or remove defamatory material from the comments. If we do so, we will add a note to the comment explaining why it has been modified.
Offensive and abusive comments will not be published. We may choose not to publish those comments, or we may edit or remove the material from the comments. If we do so, we will add a note to the comment explaining why it has been modified.
