The Association of Liberia Community Radios (ALICOR) has expressed delight over the official launch of the Liberia Media Lawyers Network, a critical legal defense initiative for Liberian journalists.
The network, comprising of lawyers, many of whom have been practicing journalists, marks a significant step forward in safeguarding the rights and freedoms of journalists and media outlets across the country.
“A heartfelt thanks to our dedicated partner, Internews in Liberia for their invaluable support in making this milestone possible,” ALICOR said in a statement.
Atty. Varney Rogers, who heads the network, said its objectives include providing media law reforms, providing legal representation for all journalists, as well as enhancing media legal literacy, training, and awareness.
Internews, the official sponsor of the launch of the network, through the USAID Meia Activities in Liberia congratulated members and thanked the partners, including ALICOR, the Female Journalists Association of Liberia (FEJAL), Center for Media Studies and Peace Building (CEMESP), among others.
