The Association of Liberia Community radio (ALICOR) has announced the launch of a state-of-the-art multimedia content production facility, to ensure improved citizens’ access to public information.
ALICOR with technical Support from Internews announced it will launch the National Information Dissemination Center (NIDIC) on Wednesday May 3,2023 at the S.T. Trowen Nagbe Methodist Church compound in Sinkor.
The NIDIC is a Swedish government fully funded Radio Content Syndication Project that seeks to promote information sharing between citizens and government, by narrowing the gap in accessing public information and creating a more robust feedback loop to inform national policy action.
The multimedia content production facility will serve as a conduit to increase the quantity, quality and reach of community radio content on critical issues through content syndication and information sharing network.
According to an ALICOR press statement, the facility will also enable the association to create, edit and package the relevant news and information, thereby increasing access to public information across the nation for both rural and urban audiences.
“The facility will also empower the community radio network to create additional opportunities for revenue by recording adverts, producing scripts for clients and generating additional content for interested parties,” the statement revealed.
“The National Information Dissemination center is a remarkable effort that will primarily benefit community radio stations, broadcasters, Government, and underserved communities with critical information need as well as corporate institutions across Liberia.”
The event is expected to bring together several high-level officials including, H. E. Urban Sjostrom, Swedish Ambassador to Liberia, EU Head of delegation, US Embassy, USAID/Liberia, Senator Jonathan Boye Charles Sogbie, Chairman on the Liberia Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting, Representative Ivar K. Jones, House’s Committee Chairman on Information and Broadcasting, the media and civil society organizations among others.
“Following the official indoor Program, H.E. Urban Sjostrom and other invited guests will be taken on a guided tour of the facility at the Methodist Church on 12st Sinkor for the official cutting of ribbon and launching of the center,” the statement added.
