South African Broadcasting Corporation’s (SABC) biggest commercial radio station, Metro FM has announced the opening of entries for the 2024 South Africa Music Awards.
This year, the organizer of the award, Metro FM is partnering with the Mpumalanga Provincial Government and the Motsepe Foundation.
South African artists are invited to submit entries for the 2024 edition of Metro FM Music Awards (MMAs), which will be held in Mpumalanga on 27 April.
“It is quite fitting that this year’s awards ceremony is hosted on Freedom Day as music has always played an integral part in influencing and shaping urban culture in South Africa,” SABC group executive for radio, Nada Wotshela said.
“The 2024 instalment of the Metro FM Music Awards is a demonstration of Metro FM’s commitment to uplifting the South African music industry. The station continues to provide a platform to a variety of prolific artists and record labels, to contribute to one of South Africa’s richest exports, music.”
According to organizers, interested artists should submit their entries here, before 28 February.
It says the top five (minimum three) nominees per category will be announced at the nominees’ announcement event on 14 March 2024.
Meanwhile, voting lines will be opened to the public on 15 March and closed on 21 April. Voting for Song of the Year closes on 27 April.
“The voting results will be verified by the SABC Internal Audit department and then revealed on 27 April,” organizers added.
“It is a strict requirement of the MMAs that the albums, singles and recordings eligible for entry must have been released between 28 February 2023 and 28 February 2024.”
