The Sierra Leone Police head by Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu will soon commission its new radio station called the SLP Community Peace Radio FM 91.1 which is now on test transmission in Freetown.
Speaking to SLP media, the SLP revealed that the FM 91.1 radio station which is presently on test transmission can be listened to in the western area and will soon be aired throughout the country in order to give the people of Sierra Leone prompt and reliable information about police and other institutions to enhance a peaceful co-existence in their various communities.
IGP Sellu said the radio will be managed by professionals in broadcasting to give out reliable, effective, and efficient news materials to the people, and plans are underway to extend the broadcast coverage nationwide.
We want to create a cordial relationship between the police and the people so we can engage them in various programs to foster a cordial civil police partnership to quickly curb crimes and frustrate rumors. False and fake news that may mislead the public in doing unlawful acts and we intend to use our programs to educate the public about many things on how to handle their grievances in a peaceful and lawful manner”. He concluded.
