Voice of Liberia FM 90.7 (VOL) has officially announced former Truth FM and LBS journalist, Varney Diggs, Sr. as its head of news.
In a post on its official Facebook page, VOL welcomed Diggs on board its management team.
“The Management of Voice of Liberia is pleased to welcome on board Varney Diggs Sr. Mr. Diggs is joining the team as Head of News,” VOL said adding, “Please join us and welcome him to this big family.”
Prior to joining VOL, Mr. Diggs worked as a Senior Press Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after leaving the national broadcaster, ELBC FM 99.9 of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS), where he served as newscaster, and presenter of the Super Morning Show (SMS).
He also previously worked for Truth FM 96.1, owned and operated by the Renaissance Communications Incorporated (RCI), where he served in many capacities, including co-host of the Truth Breakfast Show (TBS).
At VOL, he will join Obed Gibah, who also recently joined the VOL’s team to co-host the station’s breakfast show, Good Morning Liberia.
In a Facebook post, he frowned at leaders serving in their personal interest, and leaving those they serve suffer, adding that it was now time to ask officials of government the hard questions and scrutinize those in the opposition.
“We can’t have our leaders running on full tanks whiles the ordinary people run on empty stomach. Liberia needs radical economic transformation,” he said.
“Each week, we will be sailing to the bottom of the issues dominating the headlines. Join Obed Gibah and I on Good Morning Liberia on Voice of Liberia 90.7 from 7:30 to 10am Monday through Friday. Let’s get the mic working.”
