The faces of Sierra Leonean Radio Station, Democracy FM (98.1FM), glitter on one of the Station’s staff photos.
In the picture, the group is standing in front of a banner with an official logo of Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA), the West African bloc’s of the Open Society Initiative (OSI) founded by George Soros—Hungarian-born American billionaire, investor and philanthropist.
Mr. Soros’ engagement (through OSIWA) with Africa is devoid of politics, with the organization sponsoring media-channeled programming that unearths corruption being perpetrated on a political system.
Democracy FM’s official statement about the celebration of its 18th year of broadcasting hints at its connection with the American billionaire’s financial presence.
The Station’s broadcasting policy is in its name, which has attracted the financial attention of Mr. Soros whose major focus is op the pillars of democracy “Freedom”, “Justice”, and “Human Rights”.
Mr. Soros’ financial assistance to any radio station that promotes these three democratic factors flows like waterfall.
On the Station’s respect for “life”, which is part of ‘human rights’, Democracy FM organized a special broadcast entitled “7 Days Mourning for Flood and Landslide” in honor of Sierra Leoneans who died in the Country’s history-making landslide and flooding (August 14, 2017).
Standing tall on the U.S. billionaire’s financial assistance, the Radio Station created an innovative educational program for children to have a radio experience in Democracy FM’s studio during the Ebola time (2014) and Coronvarus time (from 2020) in Sierra Leone. The program was titled “Learning by Radio”, where the children in studio “discussed educational issues and other problems facing them,” Mr. Suleiman Storm Kamara, Democracy’s Head of Programming, said in the Station’s video posted on YouTube.
Any other African Radio Station yearning for U.S. billionaire George Soros’ financial touch? Just prioritize Freedom, Justice, and Human Rights—and you may fly high like Democracy FM (98.1FM) of Sierra Leone.
