Ukhozi FM’s Producer, Msizi Nkosi has been confirmed dead, by family members. Nkosi was popular TV and radio producer, author, and entrepreneur in South Africa.
Family sources confirmed that Nkosi died on Sunday, August 15, in a tragic motor accident in Richards Bay, in his home province of KwaZulu-Natal. He and his crew had gone to shoot a reality TV show when another car collided with theirs, causing his death.
He worked as a producer at Ukhozi FM on their Nethezeka NoKhozi show until his departure in 2016. The star is also the author of the book, ‘I’m A Different Mess than I Was Yesterday’.
The novel focuses on his humble beginnings in KwaZulu-Natal to becoming a popular and respected personality in Johannesburg. The novel details the star navigating troubled waters from a young age.
His vivid descriptions of his descent into alcohol, drugs, and sex start with the opening chapter of the book, which details being in ICU in hospital. But his honesty and battle with alcoholism earned him a strong following, especially on social media, which is now mourning his passing.
He died at 34-years.
Family members Ntando Nkosi and Thuli Ndaba kaNkosi who confirmed details of the accident said the radio and TV personality had been busy with the shooting of the reality TV show for the last four months before he met his demise.
“The accident took place on Sunday 15 August during the day in Richards Bay, but we only got the news in the evening at about 6 pm,” The family said in a statement.
The family said Nkosi and his crew had finished shooting in one location and were headed to another area in Richards Bay when the accident occurred.
