AfriMass Network will host the Afrika Radio Business Mixer on Friday, 13 February 2026, bringing together key stakeholders from across the continent to mark World Radio Day and examine the future of radio in an era of rapid technological change.
World Radio Day, proclaimed by UNESCO, celebrates radio as one of the world’s most accessible, trusted and enduring mass media platforms. Across Africa, radio continues to play a central role in informing, educating and connecting communities, particularly in areas where digital access remains limited.
The 2026 World Radio Day theme, “Radio and Artificial Intelligence,” sets the agenda for this year’s discussions, highlighting both the opportunities and challenges those emerging technologies present for broadcasters. Artificial intelligence is increasingly reshaping radio operations, from content automation and audio editing to translation, news summarization, audience analytics and personalized programming, while also opening new avenues for revenue generation.
At the same time, the growing use of AI raises complex concerns around journalistic integrity, data privacy, intellectual property protection and algorithmic bias issues that are especially significant for media institutions that rely on public trust.
Against this backdrop, the Afrika Radio Business Mixer will convene radio executives, broadcasters, media entrepreneurs, advertisers, technology providers, regulators and content creators for high-level dialogue that goes beyond technology adoption. The focus will be on monetization strategies, ethical frameworks and sustainable business models that can support radio’s long-term viability in an AI-driven media environment.
AfriMass Network said the event is designed to encourage practical, solutions-oriented conversations about how African radio can innovate while remaining socially responsible.
“As digital disruption accelerates, the future of radio in Africa must be built on resilient business models that balance innovation with trust, ethics and sustainability,” the organizers said.
The program will feature thought leadership discussions, strategic insights and dedicated networking sessions aimed at strengthening collaboration across the radio value chain. Organizers say the mixer is intended to help position African broadcasters to compete, grow and remain relevant as artificial intelligence becomes an increasingly influential force in global media.
By aligning World Radio Day 2026 with a business-focused industry gathering, AfriMass Network aims to reinforce radio’s continued importance on the continent, while ensuring it is equipped to thrive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
