The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) has announced the official rebranding of its flagship station, Uniiq FM, to Radio Ghana 95.7 FM, marking a bold step in the national broadcaster’s modernization and audience engagement strategy.
According to GBC management, the rebranding forms part of a strategic initiative to reposition the station, attract new audience segments, and deepen connections with its existing loyal listenership.
Radio Ghana 95.7 FM will officially unveil its refreshed programming lineup on Monday, December 1, 2025, introducing a revamped morning show and a stronger focus on national dialogue and community relevance.
Designed to address the everyday issues affecting Ghanaians, the new format will blend accurate news, balanced perspectives, and educational content, fostering informed and constructive national discourse.
Commenting on the transformation, Prof. Amin Alhassan (PhD), Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, said the change signals a new era for public service broadcasting in Ghana.
“95.7 is being recast as Radio Ghana, the original name in broadcasting in Ghana,” said Prof. Alhassan. “We are doing this to reposition 95.7 as both a national and global platform. Nationally, we will ensure that through our sister stations and regional networks, Radio Ghana is accessible across the country. Digitally, we aim to give it global reach through a visualized studio production.”
He added that the station’s refreshed identity will reaffirm GBC’s commitment to relevance, inclusivity, and national development, positioning Radio Ghana as “the true voice of the nation, across the world, across the country, and across Accra.”
The rebranding coincides with GBC’s 90th anniversary, as the broadcaster renews its call for sustainable funding and continues to evolve in the face of Ghana’s dynamic media landscape.
