Good Hope FM launches 2026 presenter search to discover South Africa’s next radio talent

Cape Town-based radio station Good Hope FM has opened entries for its Presenter Search 2026, a national talent competition aimed at discovering and training the next generation of radio broadcasters.

The initiative, which officially opened for entries on 2 March, invites aspiring presenters from across South Africa to compete for a chance to receive professional training and industry exposure at one of Cape Town’s best-known radio brands.

Organizers say the competition is open to both experienced broadcasters and newcomers with a passion for radio. While the opportunity is primarily based in Cape Town, applicants from anywhere in the country can participate if they are willing to relocate for the opportunity.

Entries are being accepted through the station’s mobile application for iOS and Android devices until midnight on 13 March. Shortlisted contestants will then be invited to live auditions at the South African Broadcasting Corporation auditorium in Sea Point on 14 March.

The auditions will be hosted by radio personality Kyeezi, who presents The Great Drive. From the initial auditions, judges will select a Top 10 group who will deliver a short music or lifestyle link before the field is narrowed down to five finalists.

The judging panel includes prominent station figures such as morning show host Leigh-Anne Williams, breakfast show host Roger Goode, drive-time co-host Celest Anthony, and lunchtime presenter Carissa Cupido, alongside station management.

The Top 5 finalists will be announced on 16 March and will participate in live on-air interviews during The Great Drive between 16 and 19 March. The competition will conclude with a live finale on 20 March at the Sea Point auditorium, where finalists will compete for audience support before the winner is announced.

The station says the entire competition journey will be broadcast on air and across its social media platforms, giving audiences an opportunity to follow the contestants’ progress.

Since its launch in 2009, the presenter search has helped launch several notable careers in South African radio, including Nick Hamman, Rinaldo Felaar, Noni Radebe, Dalin Oliver, and Kyeezi himself.

The most recent winner, Mihle Ngxishe, now hosts the weekend program Crack of Dawn on the station.
