Johannesburg’s Hot 102.7FM has announced changes to its broadcast to suit its audience.
In a statement, the station said it solicited the views of residents in Johannesburg for the past two months, to give the station input and feedback.
According to the statement, questions the station asked were about the music it plays, its presenters, news bulletins, on-air competitions and its social responsibility programs. The station has now responded to the input.
“All the things that matter to you matter to us as we continue presenting world-class radio,” says the station.
“With your valuable input, we have been able to evaluate and fine-tune Hot 102.7FM as we strive to be your top station in Gauteng,” the station added.
The input and response that Hot 102.7FM has implemented includes an increase of weekday music mixes and back to back hit plays, playing more hits from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, more cash and prizes for the rest of 2022.
There is a call to the public to recommend additional charities that could benefit from the station’s CSI initiatives. There will also be more feel-good stories in its news bulletins as well as increased ‘Old Skool’ parties.
The station’s managing director, Lloyd Madurai concludes, “Johannesburg’s 2022 radio check-up was exactly what we set out to achieve — an honest survey of what listeners really think about their radio stations. We listened and have now made the ‘BIG SWITCH’ to the best world-class radio experience.”
