Radio Africa’s Classic 105 & Radio Jambo Nominated for 2025 Thamani Awards

The much-anticipated Thamani Awards 2025 are heating up with the official release of this year’s nominees, and Radio Africa Group has reason to celebrate. Two of its flagship stations—Classic 105 and Radio Jambo—have both earned coveted nominations in the Best Mothers’ Station category, a tribute that recognizes media platforms for their outstanding service to mothers and families across the country.

The Thamani Awards, a national celebration of motherhood and societal impact, have rapidly grown into a powerful movement spotlighting individuals, brands, and institutions uplifting maternal voices.

With this year’s theme centered around recognizing value, the inclusion of Classic 105 and Radio Jambo marks a nod to stations that consistently amplify family-centered dialogue, parenting issues, and women’s empowerment.

“Thamani”—derived from the Swahili word for value—is more than just a name. It is a movement dedicated to honoring the profound contributions of women whose leadership, strength, and purpose have transformed lives and uplifted communities across East Africa.

The awards, spearheaded by Esther Wairimu Kiai, cover 25 diverse categories including community leadership, digital influence, beauty, innovation, and mental health.

Public voting is underway until May 5, ahead of the grand awards gala slated for Mother’s Day, May 11, 2025, at the KCB Leadership Centre, Karen.

Beyond the spotlight on Radio Africa stations, several other standout categories have drawn public attention.

Speaking about the vision behind the awards, Kiai noted, “We are recognizing not just individuals but institutions that help shape conversations around motherhood, identity, and resilience. The media has a huge role in this.

As voting gains momentum, fans have been urged to rally behind their favorite brands and personalities nominated. The awards are not just about celebration—they’re about legacy, visibility, and national reflection on what it truly means to value motherhood in modern Kenya.
