The National Broadcasting Commission of Nigeria, in Taraba State has commended Radio Nigeria’s Gift FM, Jalingo, for its quality programs and objective news reportage.
The Taraba State Officer of the Commission, Agnes Ukpo, gave the commendation when the management of Gift FM Jalingo led by the General Manager of the station, Emmanuel Ejim paid a familiarization visit to the NBC office in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba.
Ukpo expressed delight over the visit and gave assurance that the commission would support the management of Gift FM to promote accurate and responsible broadcasting in the state.
She explained that the NBC was established to ensure that the Nigerian airwaves are not abused, hence the Commission’s responsibility to monitor broadcast content for effective media broadcast in the country.
According to her, both the NBC and Radio Nigeria are working towards the same goal of ensuring that the public receives credible and development-oriented information.
She commended the management of Gift FM Jalingo for the progress recorded by the station in recent days by upgrading several of its programs that are gender inclusive, and news oriented.
She urged them to design more local programs that would inform and educate rural dwellers across the state.
Earlier EJim said the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration with the NBC as the regulatory body overseeing broadcast operations in the state.
He noted that Radio Nigeria remained a professional organization committed to upholding the ethics of broadcasting and serving as a model for others to emulate.
The General Manager assured the Commission that Gift FM would continue to respect and adhere strictly to the NBC Code while working closely with the Commission to make its regulatory duties easier.
