OK FM News Director joins West Africa Democracy Radio in Senegal

OK FM News Director Augustine Bill Kollie has been recruited by the West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR).

Kollie who left the Country recently for Senegal is the new Assistant Producer for the English Service at WADR.

As an Assistant Producer, the former OK FM News Director is responsible for researching stories, conducting interviews, editing, and producing contents. He will also present News and other radio programs.

He is the fourth Liberian national to be recruited at the station. Veteran Liberian broadcaster, Frank Sainworla first headed the English News Desk, followed by William Selmah, and later Adolphus Mawolo.

The Management of OK FM has termed as a major achievement for the station, the recruitment of Kollie by WADR.

The Station Manager Clarence Jackson said, such major achievement will go a long way in building the profile of the Station. Jackson noted that the recruitment of Mr. Kollie is also a major achievement for the Journalism community in Liberia.

The station has meanwhile recruited former Star Radio News Editor Matthias Daffah as its new Director of News, replacing Kollie.

WADR is a trans-territorial, sub-regional radio station based in Dakar, Senegal. It was established in 2005 as a project of the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA), to among other things protect and defend the ideals of democratic and open societies, by disseminating development information through a network of community radios in the West African sub-region.

Its mission is to promote and defend the ideals of democracy, openness, mutual understanding, and respect between individuals and between communities. The station also seeks to promote peace and human security, transparency, and the duty to report on governance, regional economic integration, as well as social and cultural development amongst and between the peoples of the West African region.

Through its programs, the WADR seeks to provide a forum for diverse opinions to create understanding among people and between people and their governments.
