Peace FM Gets Ghana’s Radio Station of the Year Award

Peace FM has been named as winner of the 2021 Radio Station the Year award in Ghana.

The station was announced on Sunday, November 7 by Big Events Ghana, the organizer of the annual Radio and Television Personality (RTP) Awards, in Ghana.

The RTP Awards scheme recognizes outstanding media personalities and media houses whose works show exemplary leadership towards building a vision and a future for Ghana’s media platform.

Winners of other categories of the 2021 RTP awards, including personality awards were also announced.

In addition to winning the Best Radio Station of the Year award, Peace FM also emerged as Best Radio Station of the Greater Accra Region, while its program, Kokrooko became the Best Radio Program of the Year. The station’s owner, Despite Media Group also won the Multi Media Group Award of the Year, and other key category awards.

Peace FM’s Dan Kwaku Yeboah won the Radio Sports Show Host of the Year award, while the station’s news program, Peace News was also recognized as Radio News Program of the Year, and the station’s program, Won Mpom Te Sen? Was named as the Radio Development Program of the Year.

Abeiku Aggrey Santana of Okay FM was recognized as RTP Personality of the Year Award, while Angel FM was named Best Radio Station of the Ashanti Region. Also, Rite FM was named the Best Radio Station of the Eastern Region, while Dagbon FM collected the Best Radio Station of the Northern Sector award. Ho FM became the Best Radio Station of the Volta-Oti Sector, as Tadi FM also won the recognition as the Best Radio Station of the Western Sector. In the same award category, Cheers FM was recognized as Best Radio Station of the Brong-Ahafo Sector.

In another individual award category, Quophi Okyeame emerged as Best Radio Personality of the Greater Accra Region; Frankie Taylor, Best Radio Personality of the Ashanti Region; Wonder Gee, Best Radio Personality of the Eastern Region; Moris Banamwine, Best Radio Personality of the Northern Sector, and Nana Ama Egyirba, Best Radio Personality of the Central Region. Others in the category include, Maame Esi Nyamekye as Best Radio Personality of the Volta-Oti Sector; Anastasia, Best Radio Personality of the Western Sector, and Audrey Akosua Tindana as Best Radio Personality of the Brong-Ahafo Sector

Also, Kwame Nkrumah Tikesie of Okay FM won the Radio Morning Show Host of the Year award, while Anopa Bofour of Angel FM emerged as winner of the Radio Morning Program of the Year award. Agyenim Boateng of Kasapa FM also got the Radio Mid-Morning Show Host of the Year award, as Abeiku Santana got the Radio Late Afternoon Show Host of the Year award.

Angel Drive on Angel FM was named the Radio Late Afternoon Program of the Year winner; the station’s sports program, Angel Floodlight Sports also named as the Radio Sports Program of the Year.

In other awards, Akosua Ago Aboagyie was named the local language Radio Newscaster of the Year, while Halifax Ansah Addo was named Radio Entertainment Talk Show Host of the year. At the same time, Power Entertainment on Power FM received the Radio Entertainment Talk Program of the Year award.

The award named Fred Kyei Mensah as this year’s winner of the Radio Entertainment Pundit of the Year award, and DJ Slim as the Radio DJ of the Year. They were followed by Nana Yaa Konadu who was recognized as the Radio Female Presenter of the Year, while Akumaa Mama Zimbi won the Radio Development Show Host of the Year award.

Named as the Radio Reggae Show Host of the Year was King Lagazee, while Franky 5 became the Radio Gospel Show Host of the Year, and Samson Lardy Anyenini of Joy FM won the Radio Talk Show Host of the Year award.

Prince McKay, Chief Executive Officer of Big Events Ghana said, the RTP Awards over the years has given so many prizes to its cherished winners, ranging from brand new home theatres to television sets.

We have taken winners to Dubai before for a whole expense paid trip and it was a kind of learning experience with fun,” McKay said.

He, however, revealed that this year’s edition of the event will award 15 personality winners who polled the most votes.
