Azania Mosaka, a host of Radio 702 commercial FM radio station in Johannesburg, South Africa, had announced the clos of her radio career.
Mosaka, the 44-year-old seasoned media personality announced on Tuesday, November 16 she was saying goodbye to Radio 702, which serves more than 740,000 listeners a week, and ending her radio career as of November 19, after a 20-year journey in the South African media landscape.
She said her new venture was inspired by a purpose to enrich her community through gardening, lifestyle health, and learning.
“As they say, all good things must come to an end. After twenty years of radio, I am stepping away from the microphone to pick up the active citizenry baton through my NGO, Peo Impact Gardens in Soweto. My next includes supporting four pillars in our communities: Health – through our vegetable garden, Body and Soul – through our breathwork offering and Mind – via the library program,” she said.
“I look forward to moving into a space of implementation, physically and actively doing community outreach and to use my voice to raise the profile of communities in need. I have so loved my time at 702 and will miss our loyal listeners.”
She said reminisce her love for 702 and said she will miss the station’s listeners.
The station’s manager Mzo Jojwana bid farewell to the outgoing media personality and revealed that the station’s former early breakfast show presenter Relebogile Mabotja will return to replace Mosaka.
“Azania has contributed significantly to 702’s success over the last six years. We will miss her and wish her well as she continues to Walk the Talk through her NPO work,” Jojwana said.
“We are thrilled to welcome Relebogile Mabotja back to the station. We know her voice, fearlessness, and ability to listen and really connect with our listeners will once again hit the right note with our audience,” he also noted.
Relebogile previously joined 702 in 2012 as a freelancer, and later became presenter of the Early Breakfast from 2017 to 2019, before leaving to other stations where she has grown grown in the radio career. Her comeback to the station is one that many fans undoubtedly anticipated.
