David Tiltmann named media executive of the year for Southern Africa 2025

David Tiltmann, Chief Executive Officer of the African Media Entertainment (AME) Group, has been honored with the prestigious title of Media Executive of the Year (Male) at the Broadcast Media Awards for Southern Africa 2025.

The announcement was made during a ceremony held at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, celebrating excellence, leadership, and innovation across the region’s broadcasting and audio media sectors.

According to the awards organizers, Tiltmann’s recognition reflects more than four decades of exceptional service to South African media, marked by a rare blend of commercial success, industry leadership, and public-service dedication.

Tiltmann has been instrumental in transforming Algoa FM into one of South Africa’s leading regional radio stations, expanding the AME Group’s footprint across radio, digital, and commercial partnerships, and driving platform innovation through the development of the LiSTN audio app, a major milestone in South Africa’s digital audio evolution.

He has also been praised for his steady and ethical leadership, especially in guiding media organizations through strategic transitions while maintaining audience trust and editorial integrity.

Accepting the award, Tiltmann, who also serves as Acting Managing Executive at Kaya FM — expressed gratitude to his teams and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the role of media in society.
