Johannesburg’s award-winning radio station HOT 102.7FM has reaffirmed its dominance in the South African radio landscape, taking home top honors at the Best of Awards 2025.
For the fourth consecutive year, HOT 102.7FM was voted Best Radio Station in Joburg in the Best of Joburg Readers’ Choice Awards, while also securing the title of Best Radio Station in Ekurhuleni for the second year in a row. The station also celebrated a recent Best of Pretoria win, completing an impressive sweep across all three major regions of Gauteng Province.
“To win across all three regions of Gauteng is an incredible honor and a reflection of the love people have for what we do,” said Lloyd Madurai, Managing Director of HOT 102.7FM. “We set out to be number one in the hearts of our listeners, connecting with them and making radio that feels good and entertains.”
Madurai attributed the station’s sustained success to the dedication of its team and the unwavering loyalty of its listeners.
“Winning four years in a row in Joburg, twice in Ekurhuleni, and now in Pretoria too, that doesn’t happen by chance,” he noted. “It’s the result of an incredible team who care deeply about our audience, and a community who’ve made HOT 102.7FM part of their daily lives. It’s also about consistency and a clear vision.”
Under Madurai’s leadership, HOT 102.7FM has built a reputation as South Africa’s leading independent radio station, known for its world-class programming and strong community engagement. Beyond entertainment, the station continues to make a meaningful social impact — most notably raising over R31.5 million during its annual Teddython charity drive, with donations pouring in from across South Africa and even as far as Sweden.
Adding to the accolades, the HOT 102.7 Breakfast Show, hosted by Simon Parkinson, Bunny Majaja, and Simon Hill, once again earned Best Breakfast Show honors — winning in Joburg for the third straight year and Ekurhuleni for the second year running.
“We’re proud to be a station that not only plays the best music but also stands for something meaningful,” Madurai added. “Our listeners are family, and these awards belong to them as much as they do to us.”
With its continued success across multiple regions and its unwavering commitment to community and quality broadcasting, HOT 102.7FM remains the station that truly makes Gauteng feel good.
