YFM has announced that it has bid farewell to DJ Flax, who has parted way with the station at the end of September.
Flax, whose real name is Mathew Malcolm, joined the youth station five years ago. From hosting Saturday and Sunday weekend shows, Flax joined Ayanda MVP as a producer and contributor on her afternoon drive show Home Run in May.
The station revealed that his exceptional knowledge of music contributed to the success of both the Throwback Riot and Sunday Feels shows.
“Flax is a radio professional and has worked extremely hard to understand all aspects of the medium. We are incredibly proud of Flax and what he has achieved at Y and he will always be a true example of what the brand stands for. We will miss his contribution to the station,” said the station managing director, Haseena Cassim.
Flax thanked the YFM family for its role in helping him grow both personally and professionally as a broadcaster.
“I will forever be grateful to Y for giving me a start in the industry and for giving me a platform to add my voice to the conversation of the youth of South Africa. It is with pride that I am able to say that I started my journey at Y,” he said.
Y has wished him success as he follows a new adventure and has thanked him for his time at the station.
