The Association of Liberia Community Radios (ALICOR) has announced the opening of entries for its second annual Community Radio Annual Award ceremony. The award honors the outstanding work of journalists in Liberia’s 15 subdivisions known as counties.
ALICOR disclosed in a statement that the submission of entries kicks off as of Thursday, January 11 through January 31, 2024.
The association warns that no entry will be accepted after the deadline.
“The awards are open to journalists working at community radio stations in the 15 counties,” the statement read.
It added that the event is part of the celebration of World Radio Day to be held on February 13, 2024, in Tubmanburg, Bomi County.
According to ALOCIR, awards will be presented in several categories including Health, Agriculture, Environment, Election, and Human Rights as judged by a carefully selected panel of judges comprising of experienced and knowledgeable journalists and other professionals.
It added that entries must bear proof of being broadcast during the period which falls from January 2023 to December 2023. All entries should be packaged reports formatted in MP3 and should not exceed 7 minutes in length. “Applicants may submit entries to a maximum of two categories. For each category, a maximum of two entries is permitted.”
Winners will be announced at the World Radio Day celebration in Tubmanburg, Bomi County on February 13, 2024.
