Durban-based commercial radio station, Gagasi FM has been nominated for Best Radio Station at the Urban Music Awards South Africa (UMA SA).

This recognition follows its success at the inaugural Behind The Scenes Awards in 2024, where it was named Most Prominent Regional Radio Station.

The Urban Music Awards is a globally renowned event that celebrates R&B, hip-hop, soul, and dance music.

For over two decades, it has honored exceptional talent worldwide. The first-ever UMA South Africa will be at the Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria on Sunday, 4May.

Gagasi FM will take on Metro FM, 5 FM, Ukhozi FM, YFM, Kaya FM, Capricorn FM, Power FM, Good Hope FM, and Jozi FM in the Best Radio Station (South Africa) category.

The winner will be decided by public votes.

According to the station’s managing director Minenhle Dlamini, the nomination reflects the team’s dedication, hard work, and creativity, as well as the unwavering support of its listeners across KZN and beyond.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be nominated for Best Radio Station at the Urban Music Awards South Africa 2025,” Dlamini said.

“This nomination is a recognition of the incredible efforts of everyone at Gagasi FM and the unwavering support of our listeners. We’re truly grateful and excited to have the opportunity to showcase the strength of KZN’s vibrant radio community on a national stage.” she said.

She described the nomination as an exciting milestone and expressed anticipation for support from their listeners and KZN residents as they aim to secure this prestigious award.

Khaya Mthethwa, who hosts a midday show on Gagasi FM, is also nominated for the same awards in the Best Gospel Act (South Africa) category.
