Ghanaian radio producer Lawrenda Danso earns international recognition with awards nomination

Veteran Ghanaian radio producer Lawrenda Danso has been nominated for the prestigious Media Producer of the Year award at the Ghana Entertainment Awards USA 2025, in recognition of her longstanding contribution to Ghana’s media and broadcasting industry.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on September 27 in New Jersey, United States, bringing together entertainment and media stakeholders from Ghana and the diaspora to celebrate excellence across multiple categories.

Danso’s nomination highlights her role as producer of Happy Evening Drive, the flagship program of Happy 98.9FM, one of Ghana’s leading radio stations. The widely followed drive-time show has built a strong audience base for its blend of current affairs, entertainment, and lifestyle content.

With more than 15 years in Ghana’s broadcasting industry, Danso has built a reputation as one of the country’s most experienced and versatile media producers, successfully transitioning from television production into radio programming.

She began her career in television, where she developed expertise in content creation, program coordination, and audience engagement. One of her earliest television projects included producing broadcaster Laila Abubakari at ETV Ghana, an experience that laid the foundation for her later success in audio broadcasting.

Her move into radio enabled her to apply storytelling and production skills to a medium known for its immediacy and audience intimacy.

Currently, Danso works closely with broadcaster Veronica Napoleon, popularly known as Akua Sika, host of Happy Evening Drive. Industry observers credit her behind-the-scenes leadership with helping maintain the program’s reputation as one of Ghana’s prominent radio shows.

Over the years, Danso has worked on a wide range of television and radio programs, collaborating with some of Ghana’s most recognizable media personalities.

Her production credits include programs such as Late Night Celebrity Show, Afia Schwarzenegger Show, African Women’s Voices, Ghana Today, and E Request.

She has also worked alongside broadcasters including Eddy Blay, Giovanni Caleb, Vanessa Gyan, Dzifa Nkansah, Eunice Tornyi, Foster Romanus, and Linzy Joy, demonstrating adaptability across entertainment, talk, and lifestyle formats.
