KONFAM 89.5 FM, a cutting-edge radio station, hit the airwaves in Lagos State, on Wednesday.
The new station owned by a seasoned entrepreneur, accountant and media innovator, Kayode Adegbite, was launched officially in Ikosi Ketu area of Lagos.
Speaking with newsmen, Adegbite who is the CEO of MediaCrush Nigeria Ltd, a leading Out-of-Home (OOH) advertising company, noted that KONFAM FM which adopts Pidgin as the broadcasting language is out to humanize radio transmission.
Adegbite said the station will be community-oriented, compassionate with a touch of comic approach in its broadcasting.
According to him, KONFAM FM will bring a fresh, tech-driven, and culturally rich approach to radio transmission
He said “You understand when they say something is confirmed (KONFAM), it means it is authentic, correct and it’s not fake. We played with so many names but at the end, we ended up with ‘KONFAM.”
“We are authentic, we are original, and we are not trying to copy anyone.”
He also added, “One thing that will stand us out is the ability to connect with the people in their daily struggles and ensure that their voices are heard. We are humanizing radio.”
He noted that Pidgin unifies Nigerians across the ethnic lines, hence its adoption as the broadcasting language.
“We all speak Pidgin. The Yoruba man understands pidgin likewise an Hausaman and an Igbo man. With that we will be able to connect with the people on the street on daily basis,” the media innovator said.
