Radio Nigeria Bronze FM honors legacy of gospel icon Ron Kenoly

Radio Nigeria Bronze FM in Benin City has joined the global Christian community in mourning the death of internationally renowned gospel singer and worship leader, Dr. Ron Kenoly, celebrating his life and enduring impact on contemporary Christian worship.

Dr. Kenoly, widely regarded as one of the pioneers of modern praise and worship music, rose to global prominence in the early 1990s with vibrant, well organized worship concerts that reshaped how gospel music was expressed and experienced worldwide. His ministry helped popularize a new, energetic style of worship that influenced churches and believers across generations.

Reflecting on his legacy, the General Manager of Radio Nigeria Bronze FM, Victorson Agbenson, described Kenoly’s landmark Lift Him Up concert in 1993 as a defining moment in global gospel music, noting its profound influence on the spiritual formation of young Christians during that era.

Agbenson also highlighted the role of fellow gospel minister Don Moen, who signed Kenoly to the Integrity Music label, describing the partnership as a powerful example of collaborative leadership in ministry.

It is instructive to note that Don Moen signed Ron Kenoly to the Integrity Music label, a testament that creating avenues for others to rise does not diminish us but elevates us. Through that partnership, gospel music was transformed, to the glory of God,” he said.

According to Agbenson, Dr Kenoly was more than a celebrated performer, describing him as a devoted minister whose music carried deep spiritual meaning.

Ron Kenoly was not just a performer but a minister of the gospel in and out. Songs such as Welcome Home, Ancient of Days, God Is Able, Sing Out and Anointing Fall on Me were deeply spiritual and soul-lifting,” he added.

Radio Nigeria Bronze FM noted that Kenoly’s music continues to inspire worshippers around the world, with many remaining grateful for his lasting contribution to Christian worship.

As part of activities to honor his life and legacy, the station announced it will dedicate Sunday, February 8, to a special commemorative broadcast. The program will feature Dr, Kenoly’s music, worship ministrations, commentaries, testimonies and documentary presentations produced by the station’s team.

Dr. Ron Kenoly’s influence, the station said, will remain firmly etched in the history of global gospel music and Christian worship.
